Alyson Alexandra West
& Michael David Murphy
met on 05/05/05
in San Francisco.
They took walks together and ate well.
They scooter'd through busy streets
and discovered their socks matched.
In the year and a half that followed,
Michael flew to Atlanta,
Alyson flew to San Francisco,
and from each place they took more trips,
and like everyone else in the 21st century,
they took pictures of each other in those places.
But all that back-and-forth
couldn't be forever,
so Michael quit his job,
rented a car, drove to Atlanta,
and they shacked up!
Their place was small,
but they made the best of it.
They soon learned
that the best part
of being together
was having fun, laughing
and singing in the kitchen...
...breakdancing in the hallway...
...busting-out Awesome plastic-wrap on the dancefloor...
...Jumping the Sandwich...
...updating a dour classic...
...and dancing with melting snowmen.
Lots of great stuff happened!
Michael got hit by a car,
someone broke into the apartment
and stole their stuff, and... WAIT!
Oh yeah! Back to the story!
After a year of searching,
Alyson and Michael bought
a house (thank you mortgage crisis!)
and started slowly fixing it up.
Other great stuff happened.
They both worked on the Obama campaign,
and when he won, they were so happy
they booked a flight to the inauguration.
On Alyson's birthday,
Jan. 20th, 2009, right after
Obama's speech, surrounded by
two million or more, Michael asked
Alyson to marry him, and she said yes!
This is what they looked liked a few minutes after.
Heck, out of 2 million people, someone had to be pointing
a camera toward the Lincoln Memorial
when Alyson said yes, right?
You bet!
Click the above pic, or here's a close-up.
And someone else saw them, too!
So, Michael and Alyson
were engaged, and they both knew
the date would have to be 10/10/10
(for symmetry's sake).
The story pretty much ends there,
save for last year's addition
of Cronkite, who they found
at the Humane Society
and reminded Michael of a dog
he loved at the sled-dog kennel
in Alaska, years ago.
Cronkite was six-weeks old:
...and now she looks like this:
That should bring things pretty much
up to date! Thanks for reading,
and we look forward to seeing you on 10/10/10!

the next chapter of the story: the kid.)
